South Africa’s Western Cape High Court opened hearings on the Expropriation Act of 2024, with AfriForum, the Institute of Race Relations Legal, and the Democratic Alliance arguing that provisions allowing expropriation without compensation breach constitutional property rights. Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev announced the 774-kilometer Beineu–Saksaulsk highway project to link Chinese borders with Caspian ports, projecting a 2.5-fold rise in freight volumes by 2029.
