Is Europe Being Drawn into a New Major War?

The Ukraine war has entered a new phase of escalation along the NATO-Russia line stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea. Russia’s intensified missile and drone strikes on Kyiv, Kharkiv and energy infrastructure, combined with advances on the front, are straining Ukraine’s defensive capacity; Western media are also speaking of Kyiv’s strategic fatigue. The message delivered by Russia with the Oreshnik system is aimed directly at NATO: if assistance to Ukraine continues, Europe’s interior could also become a target. Kaliningrad, the Suwalki Corridor and Baltic airspace rank among the highest-risk contact zones; the disconnect between Europe’s military capacity and its political rhetoric is making crisis management even more dangerous.
